STEPHEN BRYANT, violin

Stephen Bryant, violin, has a wealth of chamber music experience behind him as leader of the Canadian-based Beau Quartet. This ensemble has a CD of Nielsen and Sibelius quartets available on the Arktos label and each summer they perform in the great natural amphitheatres of the Grand Canyon as part of a 15-day whitewater river trip.

Steve's orchestral career began in Los Angeles where he was a member of the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra under Neville Marriner. He moved to Canada in 1979 where he was Principal 2nd of the Edmonton Symphony and joined the Calgary Philharmonic in 1990. In 1998 he was appointed Principal 2nd Violin of the newly-formed Malaysian Philharmonic in Kuala Lumpur and in 2000 he joined the Sydney Symphony as Principal 2nd under the baton of Edo de Waart. He is now in his second season as a member of the Seattle Symphony.
